Ayurveda is the traditional medicine of India, which originated there over 5,000 years ago. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit term, made up of the words "ayus" and "veda." According to Charaka, “ Life is composed of basic five elements originally called Pancahmahabhuts. They are Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Space. The particular thing about ayurveda is that it almost uses every method for healing such as yoga, meditation, herbs and massage. Vaidyas group these five elements into three different groups, Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
During 1500 B.C two schools of thoughts exist which made Ayurveda a scientifically classified medical system.

Dhanwantari- The School of Surgery.
Both school have got their philosophy, treatment pattern, different texts and followers. The text are mainly divided into two category 1] Brihattrayi and 2] Laghutrayi. The text gives proof of the logic and philosophy on which the system of medicine works. Different Philosophers are associated with two different schools of thoughts.
Charaka,Samhita and Ashtang are associated with Brihattrayi Schools while Sharanghar and Madharnidam belongs to Laghutrayi school of thoughts. Charaka ,Samhita is in the form of meeting where discussion with scholars is taken before reaching to any type of conclusion.. Thus ayurveda is a result of constant meetings, discussions and correction by a group of learned physician.
