The people of Haryana are simple, straight-forward, hard-working. Since ancient times, they have survived many upheavals upholding the traditional glory and greatness of the land to this day.

Religions in Haryana

The majority of people in Haryana follow Hinduism and observe traditional Hindu beliefs. The people of Haryana consider themselves to be the descendants of the Aryans and Haryana as the inaugural site of the Aryan's experimentation of an agrarian society. The main gods worshipped are Shiva, Vishnu, Rama, Krishna, Hanuman and Kali, apart from others. Most of the temples are built for Vishnu and Shiva, with the former being more popular as Rama and Narayan.

Simplicity is the key word when it boils down to eating and drinking for the Harayanavis, essentially living in rural areas. The 2-meal a day routine is followed in rural areas with the afternoon hunger pangs being put to rest in the fields.
