Meghalaya is a small state in north-eastern India. Meghalaya is a hilly strip in the eastern part of the country about 300 km long and 100 km wide, with a total area of about 8,700 sq mi . The population numbered 2,175,000 in 2000. The state is bounded on the north by Assam and by Bangladesh on the south. The capital is Shillong also known as the Scotland of the East, which has a population of 260,000.

Cherrapunji

Cherrapunji about this sound pronunciation is a town in East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It is credited as being the wettest place on Earth. However, nearby Mawsynram has more rainfall nowadays.It is the traditional capital of a hima known as Sohra or Churra.World's wettest place waterfalls, limestone caves.

Umiam Lake

Umiam Lake is a reservoir located in the hills 15 km to the North of Shillong in the state of Meghalaya, India. It was created by damming the Umiam river in the early 1960s. The principal catchment area of the lake and dam is spread over 220 square km.

Bishop Beadon falls

The Bishop Falls is located in Shillong, in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It is the 22nd highest waterfalls in India.The Bishop Falls is a three-tiered waterfall with a height of 135 metres. The Bishop' Falls is often referred to as the twin brother of the Beadon Falls since both tumble down the same escarpment into a yawning gorge. Beadon Falls and Bishop Falls are off the Guwahati road at Mawprem.
