Punjab is a state in northwest India, forming part of the larger Punjab region. Amritsar
Amritsar is a city in the northwestern part of India and is the administrative headquarters of Amritsar district Langar in the state of Punjab, India. The 2001 Indian census reported the population of the city to be over 1,500,000, with that of the entire district numbering just over 3,695,077.Amritsar is situated 217 kilometres northwest of state capital Chandigarh and is 32 kilometres east of Lahore, Pakistan and therefore, very close to India's western border with Pakistan.

Jalandhar
Jalandhar is a city in Jalandhar District in the state of Punjab, India. It is located 134 km north west of the state capital Chandigarh. In Hindu mythology, Jalandhara was the eponymous kingdom of a devil in Satyuga.Jalandhar along with Multan is the oldest surviving city of the Trigarta Empire of Katoch Rulers, with reference in history as far back as A.D. 100.
The Jalandhar Doabalso marked the eastern most territory of the empire of Alexander the Great. He erected giant altars in this area to mark the eastern most extent of his empire and also founded a city named Alexandria in the vicinity and left many Macedonian veterans there.
Bathinda
Bhatinda named after the Bhati Rajput kings, is one of the oldest cities in Punjab and the current administrative headquarters of Bathinda District. It is situated in north-western India in the Malwa Region, 225 km west from state capital Chandigarh along NH64. Bhakra Nangal dam
Bhakra Nangal Dam is a concrete gravity dam across the Sutlej River, near the border between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The dam, located in the village of Bhakra in the Bilaspur region of Himachal Pradesh, is Asia's second highest at 225.55 m high next to the 261m Tehri Dam also in India.
The Bhakra-Nangal multipurpose dam was among the earliest river valley development schemes undertaken by independent India, although the project was conceived long before India became a free nation.Preliminary works commenced in 1946. Construction of the dam started in 1948, Jawahar Lal Nehru poured the first bucket of concrete into the foundations of Bhakra on 17 November 1955 and the dam was completed by the end of 1963.
