SRIMUTHAPPAN: is the most popular local god in the Kannur district of North Kerala. Muthappan is also the theyyam performed in the famous Parassinikkadavu temple 16 km north of Kannur town.

Every day Thiruvappana and Vellattam are performed in the early morning and in the evening. Puthari Thiruvappana or "the first Thiruvappana of the year, puthari means the ceremonial feast from the new crop" is on Vrichikam 16th.

Kerala has some of the pristine hill stations in India, with the entire Western Ghats dotted with evergreens, rolling grasslands, sholas and stretches of rejuvenating fragrance of tea and coffee plantations. The wilder side of Kerala has in store some of the best wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in the country with a variety of plant and animal life unique to Kerala.
